Bev Dalziel

Clinical Pilates Practitioner

Graduated from the University of Toronto, Canada in Physical & Occupational Therapy in 1969.

She completed further post-graduate qualifications in Physiotherapy at the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1978 (Bachelor of Physical Therapy) and the Western Australian Institute of Technology – now Curtain University – in Perth, WA in 1979 (Post-Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy).

Gaining her Diploma in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute International in 1991, recognised as a teacher and practitioner of Robin McKenzie’s method of treating acute and chronic spinal conditions.

Bev has worked as a physiotherapist in Canada and Australia in the public and private health systems for over 38 years, primarily in the field of musculoskeletal medicine.  Bev has extensive teaching experience with post-graduate training of physiotherapists from 1978 to 2003 in Canada, USA, Australia, Denmark, Sweden and Finland.    This is very evident when Bev consults with you, as she empowers you with skills to help look after your own back or neck, to self manage with her guidance. She still enjoys practising the “hands-on” skills of a physiotherapist, over the last 15 years she has been focusing on exercise-based treatment and rehabilitation.

Bev started the Pilates programme at Tooronga Physiotherapy in 2004 and has enthusiastically used her manual therapy experience, and extensive understanding of ‘how the spine works’  to provide a highly expert exercise approach for rehabilitation after injury.  Anyone can benefit from Pilates, but this is particularly useful if you have had a disc injury in your neck or lower back and need careful supervision as you recover.

Bev has a strong belief in the philosophy of developing effective self-management skills in her patients, and as a testament to her skills and experience has many past patients who seek her out from time to time for ongoing advice as required.

Bev’s interests include classical and modern music, movies, visiting art galleries, reading and is an avid follower of a wide variety of sports, especially Australian Rules Football (GO CATS!!)
